This happened to me once, and I posted some messages three to seven times each. In one case I actually revised the message between tries! (So people saw the original drafts... how embarrassing!) Only later did I realize I should try downloading the new messages before I believe my news reader's "failed" message. This isn't any help, though, when the news reader keeps TRACK of which messages have "failed" and won't let you mark it posted without posting it again... ...I use Forte's Free Agent, but this behavior might also be a peculiarity of my ISP's news server.
