Subject: `meta' key doesn't work in GDB

When using the command line editing in GDB, the alt key does not work as the
meta key. It inserts odd characters instead. Using the esc key instead works
correctly. Also, the arrow keys do not do the usual emacs things. They
insert odd characters as well.
