I have much the same problem ( "undefined reference to..." errors when I
try to compile the grabber.c  program)
 but all allegro examples compile fine.
Although to get them to compile I had to move the liballeg.a file into the
lib directory for them to compile.
I also would like to find out if i'm missing a file or something (I haven't
got the G++ files but that shouldn't affect grabber.c i think)

Just thought i'd let you know you're not alone!
