It would be nice if there were a place for people to get .o files of patched library functions so they will only need to run `ar' and get a patched library. IMHO, waiting for an official release can be painful sometimes, especially since a lot of small and unrelated changes are typically involved. OTOH, many people are reluctant to download the full library sources. Ideally, a site should be set up where people could see an explanation of the bug, the source-level patch, and the compiled .o file ready to be downloaded, all linked together, e.g., from an HTML page devoted to that particular patch. I realize that this site should be actively maintained, so unless DJ can make it happen, I guess we need a volunteer. Anybody?
