I thought the 

#include <crt0.h>
int _crt0_startup_flags = _CRT0_FLAG_LOCK_MEMORY

did lock memory.  Are you saying I need to explicitly call lock for the
functions and variables?  Or is it the real mode memory I alloced that
its complaining about?
