for what it's worth i agree with eli. partly because i don't see it's
necessary and partly because i don't see who would do the work. it would
have to be someone who was known and respected by everyone in the group
really. off the top of my head i can think of eli, dj, robert and shawn.
no offence to anyone else but i don't really feel anyone else has earnt the
respect of the community as a whole as much as these 4 people. and eli has
already said no to it.

actually this is the only newsgroup where people post and email the replies
to me (provided they remember to add the m :)

i think rather than one (or even a select few) making such decisions, it
merely requires any person to make such a request and for it to be reasonable
and i think the people who post here are mature enough to respect that person's
wishes. if a certain topic is getting out of hand and annoying people, those
people will say, hey guys calm down now, and it happens. the only time we
have problems is with crossposting to other groups, who aren't so polite.

indeed this goes for anyone of course, deciding what is and what isn't
appropriate isn't always a clear cut case after all.
