I'm not "upset", I'm just making some aclarations:
1) The tools that you are using are just fine for a 386 with 4Mb, but I have a 
Cx586 of 120MHz and 32Mb of memory so I can use more powerfull and productive 
tools, I'm not saying that all the people can.
2) Emacs or RHIDE have built-in help to browse the info files, DOS' edit.com 
no.
3) From RHIDE you can fine tune all the GCC switchs and make your application 
much more comfortably than with DOS' edit.com
4) etc.

So your opinion is very good but please ... the things aren't so simple as you 
try to show for a beginer ;-)
