But I am still thinking that DirectX is an intelligent attempt to conciliate all video and sound cards with the policy "don't spent hours to configure, and get immediately the best your card can offer". VESA was a good attempt, but don't support 3D acceleration features, Real-time video compression, ASO. MickeySoft would give to games programmer the insouciance of console-programming.
