  The 8 bits DMA can be used in the first Mb of memory, the 16 bit 
DMA in the first 16 Mb (the PCI bus is better, but no sound blaster 
there). As you can't guess about where is your program in memory 
(sure not in the first Mb) you must allocate a buffer in the DOS 
(1st Mb) memory using DPMI calls.
