Programming in MS-DOG, for sure! If you want an antidote, get the 
FAQ written by Eli (presently faq202b.zip) from the same source you got
DJGPP and read if carefully.

BTW, your question about the proper return value of main is addressed in the
C Language FAQ (available at http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/C-faq/top.html) 
question 11.12 in the April 3rd edition, also about the problem John
explained is described (in compact form) in question 12.38.
