I really think they would!  You couldn't believe how many times my
suggestion of using Linux for mission NON-critical uses (like an
internal Web server, a simple Samba file server, or even an X
terminal) has been shot down by people who don't know what Linux is.

These same people happily paid whatever Microsoft asked for the
Exchange server even before they've seen the product (even before the
product is written.)

These people are good at dealing with money.  They usually go by the
motto "You get what you pay for."  They have deep pockets full of
money, and are waiting for the BIG product.

I just went to a 18-day training mission (traveling 2000 miles, and
spending close to $10K) to learn---you won't believe it---how to use
EMACS and GDB to write custom drivers in C, for a product we bought
for even more money.

The decision was made by the same people smirked at me every time I
mentioned GNU/DJGPP/Linux/TeX/Java/Tcl-Tk.

As a side note, I brought my copy of DJGPP v 2.0 with me on the trip,
and it is a HIT in the class.  I gave out copies to several people,
and installed it on their laptops.  Oh boy, were they impressed!  One
guy told me he would pay $1000 for all of the tools in the package.
The sad part is that none of the people there knew the existance of
DJGPP.
