HERBERT SCHILDT???

You GOT to be kidding, he's one of the worst C language writers I've ever
had the misfortune to read.. of course that's just IMHO.. I think the
classic by Stroustrup is still a nice read, that's where I learned my C++
and the C from Kernighan and Ritchie 2nd Ed. Most people despise K&R, but
the first 2-3 chapters have a good tutorial section.
