Then maybe you use a corrupted version of DJTAR?  What size and timestamp 
do you see when you run DIR on DJTAR.EXE?

Also, did you try DJTAR on .tar.gz file or on .tar after you unZipped it 
first?  If the latter, can you please describe the entire procedure you 
used to unzip and untar, including the platform(s) where you did it?
