You probably have a very old version of the FAQ.  The latest version is 
available as faq102.zip (from the same place you get DJGPP), and it 
answers this question in section 8.8.

I recommend Emacs.  10 minutes after you start using it you will laugh at 
Borland's IDE.  10 minutes after that you will detest the IDE.
