I'm afraid I'm missing something pretty obvious, but I've been stuck now for almost a week, so I'd very much appreciate any help you could shed on my problem: I've been using V1.39 (or so) for some time and found it a good idea to switch to V2.00 beta 3. I ftp'ed all the necessary and recommended files, unzipped them etc. I followed the magic line recommended by DJ for installation: set DJGPP=C:\DJGPP\DJGPP.ENV and, you guessed it, nothing works: I can get the compiler running, but whether I use a Makefile or launch it manually, it is unable to find _anything_: Neither header-files nor libraries... When I force a certain path upon it (-I, -L), it finds some of the files, but then emits other weird errors, like syntax errors in DJGPP-headers. Running SETDJGPP yielded the same result. After some experimenting I noticed that the very existence of DJGPP.ENV seems completely irrelevant: Nothing changes, even if I delete this file. It's simply ignored. What gives? (Yes, I've checked the paths, re-ran AUTOEXEC.BAT etc.) And, by the way, could some kind soul explain to me the way DJGPP.ENV works? I've been browsing through DOS and UNIX-manuals, but could come up with nothing. Thanks in advance. Please no REPLY with e-mail, since this account of mine is kind of preliminary.
