My mistake. There were two programs involved; one that stripped out mail-specific headers on the way to the newsgroup, and one that put headers in to tell it not to go to the newsgroup. It worked like this: post to comp.os.msdos.djgpp gateway reads and adds "X-DJ-Gateway: from comp.os.msdos.djgpp" article mailed to mailing list article received from mailing list All mail-specific headers, including "X-*", removed. Check for X-DJ-Gateway (of course, it's missing) Don't see it, post article to newsgroup. Obviously, the "X-" headers should stay, but I was reusing the stripping program from the mail archiver, and didn't remember that it took them out. I added an option to leave X-* headers in, and put that option in the gateway. This should have two affects: 1. mail posted to c.o.m.d will now have the X-* lines from the sender 2. double posts should stop (at least, those that are my fault ;-) Articles originating with the mailing list worked OK, since the newsreader doesn't strip anything. Sorry for any inconvenience, DJ
