I think that the concern is having timely responses to posts and maintaining 
a logical sequence in a thread.

If messages to/from the list are not posted immediately, it may have an 
adverse impact on some threads. A post should be sent to the newsgroup 
immediately and to all those on the list, not requesting a digest only.

Personally, I will use only the newsgroup.
