I've been building my own binutils and running on linux as cross-dev for
djgcc...

The current ld says:
ld version 2.5.2.7 (with BFD 2.5)
  Supported emulations:
   i386linux 
   elf_i386 
   i386aout 
   i386bsd 
   i386coff 
   i386mach 

is i386coff good for go32?
