Actually i would much rather see default at O0 anyways..
When i'm testing i'm looking for faster compiles so that I can see if things work
and this is done FAR more often than final compiles.
It doesn't really matter I suppose, if one uses a Makefile, but for those who 
don't it might be nicer

As far as -g having O0 be the default, that would be a workable solution, though
I would still prefer plain -O0 default
