Date: Wed, 27 Jul 94 08:56:24 CDT From: sasbnb AT unx DOT sas DOT com Howdy Hackers, I tried using the built in vesa driver for the djgpp graphics package. It seems to not switch to graphics mode, but rather randomizes the colors on my dos screen (so badly that I sometimes have to reboot to see anything). GO32=gw 1024 gh 768 nc 256 I have loaded the bios into ram, and have set the vprmode to vesa with their tsr program. Also, fractint 18.2 can use it at 1024 X 768 X 256 with it's supervga/vesa driver. I am wary about randomly trying the drivers that came with the program. I have settled (tentatively) upon the vga driver, but it seems to ignore the gh 640 gw 480 autoexec driver options, and maxx and maxy are reported to be 320 and 200 at run time (at least I have 256 colors). My card will allegedly do 1280 X 1024 X 256, and I seem to be able to harness only 1/20 th of it. Does anybody out there have a Diamond Viper (Weitek P9000) card, and how do you get it to work? If anybody is interrested, I have obtained 400+ pages of technical specs from Weitek in hopes of one day performing high/true color direct video memory writes for ultimate speed as I have done on a comparatively simple Boca VGA/X2 card. If anybody is aching to write a driver for this beast, I have the technical scoop. Thanks, Brian
