No objections from me, however I don't know how well RMS will go for this. He continually touts the line about the GNU Project prefering to target unix rather than any other OS (be it MS-DOS, OS/2, Amiga, Atart-ST, and so on). After all, Hurd will be a unix clone. While I've no problems with creating a gnu.msdos.* heirarchy, I really doubt it will get done. Everyone would then want their own heirarchy for their specific ports: gnu.os2.*, gnu.amiga.*, gnu.atari.*, gnu.mac.*... oh wait.. i'm getting carried away here ;-> Seriously... I doubt that the FSF would really like to see a gnu.msdos.* heirarchy. Sure, perhaps you could argue that MS-DOS has more installations than all the various unixes combined, and that bye offering msdos specific support to the GNU project, you would hopefully expose more people to the cause than otherwise would, but I doubt it will have much effect. Yeah... go for a gnu.msdos.* heirarchy... but don't be surprised or disgruntled if it's allowed, and don't feel bad if you have to 'fall back' to a comp.os.msdos.djgpp group or two. Also... what is the distribution factor of gnu.* v. comp.* ??? mrc
