Thanks everyone for pointing me to some good matrix packages on the net.  If
anyone else is interested, they are:
newmat07 on simtel - lots of matrix functions in C++
matrix04 on simtel - small package of matrix functions in C - the essentials are
	there though, and it compiles under djgpp with minor mods
meschach on research.att.com in netlib/c directory - comprehensive library ofC++
	matrix manipulation, e.g ( LU, Cholesky, SVD, QR, ... )
LINPACK/LAPACK/EISPACK - FOrtran routines that have been around a while,
haven't looked at these yet.

Again thanks every body, this list is what internet is supposed to be about.
