suggests using

#define ABS(x) ((x) < 0 ? -x : x)

which is almost right but will produce some obscure bugs. I suggest instead

#define ABS(x) ((x) < 0 ? -(x) : (x))

so that e.g. ABS(-a+b) works correctly.
