Actually if you could narrow this down to a simple script which demonstrates the failure that would be very much easier to debug. Simple reads from a shell script seem to work fine under Windows 98 and Windows NT, AFAIK. Also, as you can see, your strace log didn't make it out to the rest of the list. It's probably better not to send large files like this to the mailing list anyway. It's good that you got the strace log, but I'm probably the only one who would be interested in this. cgf
