A recent change to expect's configure script has uncovered a problem
with the way ash handles case/esac .  Ash did not allow valid
constructs like:

case "something" in
# empty case
esac

The fix for this was very simple (although debugging it wasn't).
I've also updated the ash sources to the most recent Debian release.
