It helps.  The behaviour disappered for me.  Only...

...that should be       GetCurrentThread ()
                        

Question:  Why is SetEvent() called at that point at all?  Since
__name is set to NULL, detach doesn't call WaitForSingleObject()
anyway.  What am I missing now?
