The following commit:

causes PostgreSQL to hang when it tries to drop a table.  Note that the
hang occurs on both NT 4.0 SP5 and 2000 SP1.  I did not test on 9X/Me.

The specific part of the commit that causes the hang is:

    http://sources.redhat.com/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/winsup/cygwin/syscalls.cc.diff?cvsroot=uberbaum&r1=1.122&r2=1.123

which has the corresponding ChangeLog entry:

    * syscalls.cc (_unlink): Reorganize to try harder to delete file with
    DeleteFile and to recover more gracefully if FILE_FLAG_DELETE_ON_CLOSE
    doesn't work properly.

When I back out the this patch the hang is prevented.

I will try to dig some more and devise a patch (if I can), but I wanted
to at least give a heads up in the meantime.
