Right. It is there *when* you issue a system mount. The root device is not placed there by default. I thought that is what you were referring to by the "/ - mount". The net install does not do this but it has been mentioned that maybe it should. This is used when you use the "mount -s" command. I guess what you're saying is that this key shows up when you install software even when you're not privileged to do so. I guess I'll have to create an unprivileged user account on my NT system and try this out. You're probably right. cgf
