I knew that we already had a package for figlet, so I thought the project would be interested in this library. This was provided as a package in 1998 for B19, but has since been deprecated AFAIK. You can do some pretty interesting things with it such as ascii stereograms and ascii fractals. Also, it is a support library for both gtk and ImagMagik. Finally, IMHO, it beats the pants off of netpbm for converting graphics to ascii art. If you want more info, check out: http://aa-project.sourceforge.net/aalib/ It builds OOTB with minor tweaks, so if there is no objections, I'll package it up and provide the necessary hint files and such.
