Ah. Ok, when you run automake, by default it runs in gnu mode, where it
requires a number of files that the GNU package distribution / coding
standards require - such as AUTHORS/NEWS/COPYING/README etc etc. The
--foreign switch in bootstrap.sh disables that, allowing us to
distribute what we choose.
