Ouch, that bites. > I don't think that will happen. Of all of the versions of project 'bob' Oh oh, I have this too. The same file two times in the same directory (one time with .tmp suffix). And if I start a new download it gets downloaded again (the old .tmp file gets clobbered then). I've already reported this so I hope Robert is able to reproduce the bug. So I guess if I choose another mirror the next time the same file will be downloaded again in another directory. $ ls -l ftp%3a%2f%2fmirrors.rcn.net%2fmirrors%2fsources.redhat.com%2fcygwin/contrib/tetex/ total 33831 -r-xr-xr-x 1 Administ Kein 307 Jan 30 05:48 md5.sum* -r-xr-xr-x 1 Administ Kein 412 Jan 30 05:45 setup.hint* -r-xr-xr-x 1 Administ Kein 6225385 Jan 7 19:36 tetex-beta-20001218-1-src.tar.gz* -r-xr-xr-x 1 Administ Kein 4248088 Jan 7 19:36 tetex-beta-20001218-1.tar.gz* -rwxrwxrwx 1 Administ Kein 4248088 Mar 27 21:46 tetex-beta-20001218-1.tar.gz.tmp* -r-xr-xr-x 1 Administ Kein 5038651 Jan 9 01:50 tetex-beta-20001218-2-src.tar.bz2* -r-xr-xr-x 1 Administ Kein 3177419 Jan 9 04:08 tetex-beta-20001218-2.tar.bz2* -r-xr-xr-x 1 Administ Kein 5040669 Jan 23 03:35 tetex-beta-20001218-4-src.tar.bz2* -r-xr-xr-x 1 Administ Kein 3329878 Jan 23 07:03 tetex-beta-20001218-4.tar.bz2* -rwxrwxrwx 1 Administ Kein 3329878 Mar 27 15:08 tetex-beta-20001218-4.tar.bz2.tmp* ls -l ftp%3a%2f%2fftp.uni-erlangen.de%2fpub%2fpc%2fgnuwin32%2fcygwin%2fmirrors%2fcygnus/contrib/tetex/ total 2016 -rwxrwxrwx 1 Administ Kein 2064384 Apr 3 21:02 tetex-beta-20001218-1.tar.gz.tmp* Download not finished yet;) Note that I have installed tetex-beta-20001218-4 and I just clicked through the chooser without looking what was choosen. > on all of the download sites, only the newest one (as indicated by the > various setup.ini's) will be downloaded to the local cache. So, if on > Tuesday site X has bob-1.0-1 (and everybody else has bob-0.9), then only > http%%%X%%% will contain a bob tarball. only the newest one... that works only if the package is also installed, else the newest one gets downloaded twice. Maybe it will work ok if I clobber my /etc/setup directory? But I have not read any advice to do so. Should I try? If I change the sites again now (after downloading ncftp latest) without installing ncftp latest, this happens: ls -l ftp%3a%2f%2fftp.uni-erlangen.de%2fpub%2fpc%2fgnuwin32%2fcygwin%2fmirrors%2fcygnus/contrib/ncftp total 217 -rwxrwxrwx 1 Administ Kein 221748 Apr 3 21:02 ncftp-3.1.3-1.tar.bz2* And here it is again (the second time): Gerrit AT ISMENE /p/instsoft/NewCD/SaveCygwin/cygwin $ ls -l ftp%3a%2f%2fmirrors.rcn.net%2fmirrors%2fsources.redhat.com%2fcygwin/contrib/ncftp/ total 1201 -r-xr-xr-x 1 Administ Kein 159 Nov 10 18:48 md5.sum* -r-xr-xr-x 1 Administ Kein 402227 Feb 3 2001 ncftp-3.0.2-2-src.tar.gz* -r-xr-xr-x 1 Administ Kein 382260 Feb 3 2001 ncftp-3.0.2-2.tar.gz* -rwxrwxrwx 1 Administ Kein 220029 Mar 3 16:23 ncftp-3.1.2-1.tar.bz2* -rwxrwxrwx 1 Administ Kein 221748 Apr 3 2002 ncftp-3.1.3-1.tar.bz2* -r-xr-xr-x 1 Administ Kein 276 Oct 28 20:04 setup.hint* > On Wednesday, site Y has bob-2.0 -- now, we download bob-2.0 tarball > into http%%%Y%%%.
