I've just tried it:

 1. Removed man and newlib-man packages
 2. Installed with version 2.194.2.9 the same packages
 3. run Michael's script - it found and fixed both packages and
 another two stale packages
 4. diffed saved copies of man.lst and newlib-man.lst to the fixed
 copies - they matched
 5. Tried uninstall with 2.194.2.15 (released version) and it worked
 fine
