It contains GNU autoconf-2.57, installed into /usr/autotool/devel. GNU autoconf-2.57 provides "Bug fixes for problems with AIX linker, with freestanding C compilers, with GNU m4 limitations, and with obsolete copies of GNU documents." Changes since 2.54-1 o update to the GNU 2.57 release o all 174 self tests successful (3 skipped) o Official release notes (2.54-->2.55) http://mail.gnu.org/pipermail/autoconf/2002-November/014496.html o Official release notes (2.55-->2.56) http://mail.gnu.org/pipermail/autoconf/2002-November/014499.html o Official release notes (2.56-->2.57) http://mail.gnu.org/pipermail/autoconf/2002-December/014561.html Back when I released autoconf-2.54, I said: > Yes, I know autoconf-2.55 will be released later this week. But it > has some significant changes relative to past autoconfs; we'll hold > off on that for a while, and laugh at the pain and angst on the > autoconf mailing list. Since they went thru 2.55, 2.56, and 2.57 in less than a month, it appears that was a good decision. But, there have been very few reports of new problems with 2.57 in the two weeks that it has been available, so I think we're safe in upgrading... -- Chuck Wilson To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on the http://cygwin.com/ web page. This downloads setup.exe to your system. Save it and run setup, answer the questions and pick up 'autoconf-devel' from the 'Devel' category. Note that downloads from sources.redhat.com (aka cygwin.com) aren't allowed due to bandwidth limitations. This means that you will need to find a mirror which has this update. In the US, ftp://mirrors.rcn.net/mirrors/sources.redhat.com/cygwin/ is a reliable high bandwidth connection. In Japan, ftp://ftp.u-aizu.ac.jp/pub/gnu/gnu-win32/ is already updated. In DK, http://mirrors.sunsite.dk/cygwin/ is usually up-to-date. If one of the above doesn't have the latest version of this package you can either wait for the site to be updated or find another mirror.
