GnuPG 1.1.90 has been released as a *development version*, see: http://lists.gnupg.org/pipermail/gnupg-devel/2002-July/007372.html for details. The main change for cygwin users is that loadable modules, used with the --load-extension=foo parameter, are now usable. At the moment there are: tiger, rndegd and rndlinux. ( rndlinux is linked statically by default, but can also be build as a module. ) (If you are allowed to use idea you can build it for yourself. SOURCECODE for idea not provided!) THIS IS AN OFFICIAL (www.gnupg.org) *DEVELOPMENT VERSION*, USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. The last official release is GnuPG 1.0.7 GNU Privacy Guard is GNU's tool for secure communication and data storage. It can be used to encrypt data and to create digital signatures. GnuPG is a complete and free replacement for PGP. It includes an advanced key management facility and is compliant with the proposed OpenPGP Internet standard as described in RFC 2440. Primary source for information for gnupg is at http://www.gnupg.org Legal stuff ----------- Some countries have regulations on the use of cryptographics systems; It may be unlawful to use GnuPG in these countries. Please visit http://www.gnupg.org/legal.html for more informations concerning this topic. This is a test package for Cygwin. INSTALLATION: To install this test package, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on the http://cygwin.com/ web page. This downloads setup.exe to your system. Save it and run setup, answer the questions, choose "Exp" and pick up `gnupg' from the `Utils' category. Note that downloads from sources.redhat.com (aka cygwin.com) aren't allowed due to bandwidth limitations. This means that you will need to find a mirror which has this update. In the US, ftp://mirrors.rcn.net/mirrors/sources.redhat.com/cygwin/ is a reliable high bandwidth connection. In Japan, ftp://ftp.u-aizu.ac.jp/pub/gnu/gnu-win32/ is already updated. In Denmark, http://mirrors.sunsite.dk/cygwin/ is usually up-to-date. If one of the above doesn't have the latest version of this package you can either wait for the site to be updated or find another mirror.
