There's no good reason yet to drop 8.1/2012 R2, even though usage figures
are extremly low (< 1%).

We may consider that for 3.7, but we won't enforce it.  I have to say
that I was pretty impressed with 8.1 and its performance, especially in
terms of the GUI. The Windows 10 and *especially* the Windows 11 GUIs
feel like molasses in comparison.
