This past week I upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 (64 bit). I have made perhaps 10 different attempts at installing Cygwin and it seems each time I get different errors. Some of the mirror sites are terribly slow, so after Googling I've settled on kernel.org, but I still get errors using that mirror. One frequent error is the "Download incomplete" error. I usually ignore this one, perhaps ignoring it is causing the other issues? If ignoring it is a problem, what are my options? Try another mirror? Another common error is something like "Can't open (null)". I am able to start X windows using "startx", the windows manager creates 3 terminals for me. But when I try to use xterm to create my own terminal I get: No protocol specified xterm: Xt error: Can't open display :0 -Alan -- Problem reports: http://cygwin.com/problems.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/ Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple
