That was embarrassingly the case. Now to the root of my confusion: Autotools used to generate a stripped and a debug version. I could run the debugger: gdb .lib/a.exe and the debug information were there. That seems to fail now. The generated Makefile has a line that is commented: #am__append_1 = -Wall -Wextra -ggdb -O0 am__append_2 = -O2 Could that have anything to do with my missing debug information? Anybody else stumbled across this issue?
