Have you set the MAKE environment variable? To use the right make, enter the CPAN shell. $ cpan Have a look at your "make" configuration cpan[1]> o conf make make [/path/to/wrong/make] Change the value. cpan[2]> o conf make /usr/bin/make make [/usr/bin/make] You can make the change permanent with "o conf commit," or just keep it for this session.
