I googled for +cygwin error +"google desktop" and found a couple of pointers to google groups as results #3 and #4 that led me to this report from last October: http://groups.google.com/group/Google-Desktop_Something-Broken/tree/browse_frm/month/2008-10/1f3f00524b27fbf4?rnum=121&_done=%2Fgroup%2FGoogle-Desktop_Something-Broken%2Fbrowse_frm%2Fmonth%2F2008-10%3F#doc_c5426b3f349577a3 (http://tinyurl.com/d9jtcv to avoid wrapping). > In any case, I wanted to add that if you use regedit to rename/delete > "AppInit_DLLs", cygrunsrv will work until you reboot -- at that point > Google Desktop seems to "fix" itself by creating "AppInit_DLLs" again. > That will of course break cygrunsrv again. Argh. Still, that key belongs to windows, there are lots of other things that might end up there or cause it to be recreated, so editing it is an unreliable technique at the best of times. I see (OldNewThing 20071213) that it's deprecated and disabled by default in vista (and presumably above). It occurs to me that we should dump it out in the cygcheck output, thanks for the idea! cheers, DaveK -- Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple Problem reports: http://cygwin.com/problems.html Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/
