My problem: - an old (and broken) version of cygwin was installed. - installing a fresh new one led to the cygwin shell to NOT start: - the window opens and closes very fast The solution: - reboot the PC ! The explanation: - an old version of cygwin1.dll did exist and was incompatible with the new one. What the FAQ could say: - if the cygwin shell does not start, open a Windows shell and type the following: chdir C:\cygwin\bin bash --login -i then read the message . - if the install seems to install with success but the cygwin shell does not start, reboot the PC. Hope it helps, Tony Créez votre adresse électronique prenom DOT nom AT laposte DOT net 1 Go d'espace de stockage, anti-spam et anti-virus intégrés. -- Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple Problem reports: http://cygwin.com/problems.html Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/
