Here are the steps that I took. $ ps Part of the output gives: WINPID: 2504, COMMAND: /usr/bin/emacs I tried to run dumper on this program $ dumper -d emacs 2504 The output reads: Dumping process #2504 to emacs.core Setting bfd architecture: No error I can't find emacs.core on my system, but a folder called .emacs.d was created in my home directory.
