I'm running Cygwin on two Vista 32 installations using Cygwin 1.5.22 or the latest developer snapshot from http://cygwin.com/snapshots/, as well as on a Vista 64 machine with the latest snapshot. You could try rebasing, maybe using a base address of 0x65000000, but changing the base address like this shouldn't be actually required. I have obviously no idea how you configured your system, which is sort of a pain on Vista anyway. Sorry, but, this is one of the cases where you have to roll up your sleeves and start debugging. > I imagine if I add /bin to the path I will get a little further than I > am -- are there other directories that I should not overlook? If you start using the cygw.bat file you should already have /bin, resp /usr/bin (which is the same) in your path.
