Running tar to restore files, owner information is not preserved. That's: all restored files are owned by SYSTEM. I suspect that tar is not recognizing SYSTEM user on cygwin/windowXP as superuser. Does anyone have the same experience or a workaround for it? info tar: `--same-owner' Create extracted files with the same ownership they have in the archive. This is the default behavior for the superuser, so this option is meaningful only for non-root users, -- Thank you!
