Where do -ltre and -lintl come from? Are you adding them to $LIBS? That makefile is just unbelievable. (Unbelievably bad that is.) I wonder if the author was molested by automake as a kid and was scarred for life. Nothing else explains the reasoning for doing things like copying the same rule over and over for every .o file.
