A web search for 'cygwin "_WinMain AT 16" inurl:2004' also proved productive (make sure you "repeat the search with the omitted results included"). If not, please read and follow the Cygwin problem reporting guidelines outlined at (pay special attention to the part that says "attach the output of 'cygcheck -svr'"). It might also be interesting to see the *exact* gcc/ld invocation that fails.
