Not any more it doesn't;) The count of matches changed the moment you published this. But that is a small objection. A more major one is that I did this look up, and what I found does NOT look like an answer. Instead, I see messages about 'zsh' (irrelevant, since I am using bash), DOS prompts hanging (also irrelevant)... Would I have spotted it if I knew what a 'ptys' is? I see a lot of those. Or perhaps you really meant to simply say that I should have started rxvt with the options "-e bash --login -i"? >BTW, the FAQ also explains it, albeit as part > of another question: > . You call _THAT_ an explanation? I don't. I doesn't even look like the same topic. After all, when I follow those direction and go to /usr/share/info, I find the directory already exists. So why should I create it? At that point, I have every right to assume that the rest of the directions there do not apply to my case. If that isn't what the FAQ means, then it needs to be rewritten. Speaking of rewrites, the same item says "may have to update it when you install new Cygwin packages", but says nothing about HOW. I know how to use the online package manager to update entire packages, but not /usr/share/info. Of course, I do not expect they mean the former, because I just _did_ that, and the info files show up only garbled. >Where? The only reference to "doc/Cygwin/rxvt" > was the entry I referred to above, > and it says "/usr/doc/Cygwin/rxvt-.README". OK, that was my error. Thanks for correcting it. No wonder I couldn't find the README;) Finally, I can't resist asking: was rxvt not updated since 2003 because it really is that complete & stable, or is it because it has been superceded by something else? If the former, why hasn't anyone fixed the presence of YODLTAGSTART in the man pages? Doesn't that make so much more sense than running your sed script over and over on every installation? ===== ----------------------- Matthew Johnson mej1960 AT yahoo DOT com __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
