Why do you think I was asking for a good system in the $400 price range? I don't think you've been paying attention. I don't *need* a new system. I have perfectly adequate systems running linux. My cygwin system is also perfectly adequate for everything but checking this particular problem. When I was asking for feedback on a $400 system, I meant that I wanted a system that was actually usable. A system without a hard drive is not usable.
