I have every reason to believe that the server is running NT, not SAMBA or another *nix. (Note: The reference to "Solar" in the output of cacls is the name of a building, not the Solaris OS.) I don't really know if my permissions are OK. How does one find out? Policies do not allow me to see user accounts or the network neighborhood. Here is what cacls says: /c> cacls h:\\ h:\ NIAID\bbuchbinder:(OI)(CI)C NIAID\MSMITH:(OI)(CI)F NIAID\SolarITB:(OI)(CI)C NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(OI)(CI)F /c> cacls h:\\Home h:\Home NIAID\bbuchbinder:(OI)(CI)C NIAID\MSMITH:(OI)(CI)F NIAID\SolarITB:(OI)(CI)C NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(OI)(CI)F /c> cacls h:\\Home\\DW h:\Home\DW NIAID\bbuchbinder:(OI)(CI)C NIAID\MSMITH:(OI)(CI)F NIAID\SolarITB:(OI)(CI)C NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(OI)(CI)F /c> cacls h:\\Home\\DW\\\*.qrd h:\Home\DW\Inventions.qrd NIAID\bbuchbinder:C NIAID\MSMITH:F NIAID\SolarITB:C NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:F h:\Home\DW\Licenses.qrd NIAID\bbuchbinder:C NIAID\MSMITH:F NIAID\SolarITB:C NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:F h:\Home\DW\Patents.qrd NIAID\bbuchbinder:C NIAID\MSMITH:F NIAID\SolarITB:C NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:F h:\Home\DW\ResTypes.qrd NIAID\bbuchbinder:C NIAID\MSMITH:F NIAID\SolarITB:C NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:F h:\Home\DW\WO.qrd NIAID\bbuchbinder:C NIAID\MSMITH:F NIAID\SolarITB:C NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:F -----Original Message----- From: Corinna Vinschen Sent: Monday, June 07, 2004 12:10 PM To: 'Cygwin List' Subject: Re: cp -p gives error message On Jun 7 08:57, Buchbinder, Barry (NIH/NIAID) wrote: > /c> echo $CYGWIN > check_case:adjust export title nostrip_title codepage:oem server tty > > cygcheck.out attached. Sorry I made a bad assumption (its been a while > since I read http://cygwin.com/problems.html) and didn't attach it the first > time. What I'm missing in your report are a few important details about the net drives. Are these Windows or Samba shares? If Windows shares, what does cacls tell you about the target directories on these shares? Are you sure your permissions are ok?
