My gratulations to a task well done. There seems to be issues with XFree86-bin-icons.sh though that are _unrelated_ to the hang. (Newcomers: This script was the one that revealed the problem in the first place.) To run the script like this from bash, works: $ sh.exe -c /etc/postinstall/XFree86-bin-icons.sh.done when it gets run from setup the task is just partially done. This is "elaborated" below.
