Nope, the softlink *does* result in a correct dependency on msvcrt.dll (as verified by cygcheck). cc1.exe and cc1plus.exe in /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-mingw32/3.3.1 are already softlinks to the executables in /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-cygwin/3.3.1 created by unpacking gcc-mingw-3.3.1-20030804.tar.
